Richard "Sonny" Wheatley, a native of Vicksburg, died Saturday, April 20, 2013. He was 62.

Mr. Wheatley was a retired trucker from KLLM Trucker Co. and was a third-degree black belt martial-arts instructor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Savannah Wheatley; two sisters, Gladys Ellis and Ernestine Allen; and a brother, Herman Wheatley.

Survivors include his wife, Ruthie Wheatley; three sons, Kenneth Wheatley, Richard Harrison and Keith Jones; a stepson, Floyd Smith; a daughter, Jasmine Wheatley; one brother, Reginald Wheatley; three sisters, Robbie Hebron, Annie Bernice Harrison and Mary Denise French; five grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christian Life Church in Monroe. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Miller Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
