Composer, musicologist and poet. He was born to a religious Orthodox Jewish family in Vilna. When he was 12 years old, he and his family moved to Germany. He studied music in Königsberg and at the age of 17, he moved to Berlin. After graduating from Hochschule für die Wissenschaft des Judentums, he begin his music career by composing music and collecting Jewish manuscripts to preserve them. He was involved in Berlin's Jewish community as a choir and music director at synagogues. In addition to his music career, he wrote poetry and plays and took painting. He worked as a music critic in music journals. In 1938, he completed "Kompendium Hallelujah! Gesänge Für Den jüdischen Gottesdienst." Following his death during the Holocaust, some of his works were preserved and held at Gratz College.
