Lena Appleman dies last evening
Miss Lena P. Appleman, 88, of Decatur route 4, member of a prominent Adams county family, died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Adams county memorial hospital, where she had been admitted a short time earlier. She had been in ill health for the past year, but death was unexpected.
She was born in Adams county Aug. 31, 1879, a daughter of Andrew and Anna Sendlebach-Appleman, and had resided on the family farm her entire lifetime. She was employed for many years at the Waring Glove factory in Decatur.
Miss Appleman was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic church, the Rosary society and the Third Order of St. Francis.
Surviving are one brother, Joseph Appleman, with whom she resided, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic church, with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Simeon Schmitt officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery. Friends may call at the Gillig-Doan & Sefton funeral home after 4 p.m. today until time of services. The rosary will be recited at 7:40 o’clock tonight, followed by the Third Order of St. Francis at 8 p.m. (Dec. 21, 1967)
