Wichita Man Dies While on Vacation
Gurney F. Kirkhart, 64, of 1010 Pattie, died Wednesday in Phoenix, Ariz., while returning to Wichita from California where he had been on a vacation.
Mr. Kirkhart was a mechanic for Gage Cadillac - Oldsmobile Inc. He had been at the same garage for 33 years. He was born April 9, 1895, in Oklahoma and came to Wichita in 1925. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical United Brethren Church. He married Ava Moss in September 1927 in Wichita.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. H. E. Platt Jr., 6205 E. 10th, and Mrs. Donald Nash, 849 Brown Thrush Lane; two brothers, Lawrence, Los Angeles, Calif., and Alsie, Gate, Okla.; a sister, Mrs. Sylvia Arnett, Hamlin, Kan.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be announced by Gordon Mortuary.

Saturday Rites Set For Gurney Kirkhart
Funeral service for Gurney F. Kirkhart, 60, of 1010 Pattie, who died Wednesday of a heart attack at a Phoenix, Ariz., motel while en route home from a California vacation, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Evangelical United Brethren Church.
The Rev. Thomas J. Miller will officiate. Burial will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Kirkhart was born April 9, 1899, in the Cherokee Strip in Oklahoma Territory.
He was employed as a mechanic at Gage Cadillac Oldsmobile location for 32 years and had resided in Wichita since 1925. He moved here from Oklahoma.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Iva Kirkhart; two daughters, Mrs. H. E. Platt Jr., 6205 E. 10th, and Mrs. Donald Nash, 849 Brown Thrush Lane; two brothers, Lawrence Kirkhart, Los Angeles, Calif., and Alsie Kirkhart, Gate, Okla.; a sister, Mrs. Sylvia Arnett, Haviland, Kan.; and six grandchildren.
Gordon Mortuary has charge of arrangements.
