Thomas C. Kurtz, 90, of Boiling Springs, died Monday, May 27, 2002, at the Sarah Todd Memorial Home, 1000 W. South St., Carlisle.
Born Sept. 9, 1911, in Shirleysburg, a son of the late Isac Morrell and Jane Appleby Kurtz, he was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School and an employee of the former Cochran and Allen Hardware Store in Carlisle for 58 years. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in South Middleton Township, American Legion Post 101 in Carlisle, and VFW Post 8851 in Boiling Springs.
Mr. Kurtz is survived by his wife of 26 years, Alta Shover Kurtz; two daughters, Shirley Stoey of Boiling Springs and Sandra Barber of New Bloomfield; two stepdaughters, Sandra Hern of Carlisle and Kristy Nyce of Elverson; a brother, Kenneth Kurtz of Mechanicsburg; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Kurtz; a sister, Alda Myers; and two brothers, Paul and Donald Kurtz.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle, with the Rev. David L. Reed officiating.
