Joseph Frank Hessling II, 69 of Honesdale, fought a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer.

He was entrusted with the lord on Friday, November 21, 2008 surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, the former Cherryl L. Compton. The couple married Aug. 8, 1998

Joe was born, raised and lived his life in Honesdale and was the son of the late Joseph B. Hessling who died Jan. 20, 1971 and the late Blanche T. Moken who died Jan. 18, 2008

He was an integral part of the community, having touched many lives. A graduate of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic High School " Hoca High,"

Joe soon enlisted in the United States Air Force and served proudly from 1957 to 1961. While serving, he met his first wife of 32 years, Kathy Hessling.

He was employed with Katz Underwear Company for 30 years in various positions and responsiblities to include, head of design computer technology. In recent years, Joe was
employed by the Wayne Independent as circulation director of 5 different papers. While there, he was able to indulge in one of his favorite pass times, geneology and
co-published five pictorial history books of Wayne County and its residents. This was one of his proudest achievements. An avid train fan, Joe collected and chased trains since his childhood.

Joe was a life-time member of Texas #4 Fire Company and was a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus.

To the loving husband, brother and father to us all, we will love you for ever more.

He is survived by his sons Joe Jr., Fran and John Hessling; step-son Brandon; daughter Michelle; brothers Gerald Hessling and wife Nancy, Thomas Hessling and wife Ann, John Hessling and wife Janet; sisters Karen DeTore and husband Chuck and Mary Jane Hessling Siepiela and husband Sam; nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Tuesday form 3-7.
