After graduating from Pender (NE.) High School she married Wayne W. Powley on March 26, 1950 in Pender, Nebraska. Shirley worked at the Courthouse for 23 years with the last 15 years at the Sheriff's Department.
Shirley was a member at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender, Nebraska. Shirley enjoyed embroidering T-towels, doing crafts and playing cards. Most importantly Shirley loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Shirley survivors are: daughter, Judy Chaney of Pender, NE.; son, Steve Powley (Shelly) of Fremont, NE.; grandchildren Dustin Powley of Lincoln, NE., Dylan Powley of Wisner, NE. and Danika Powley of Fremont, NE.; great grandchildren. Bryson and Ryan Powley of Lincoln, NE.; sister. Karen Dahlman of Pender, NE.; aunt, Mickey Ellyson of Pender, NE.
Shirley is preceded in death by: parents; husband, Wayne Powley and son-in-law, Lon Chaney.
Burial was in the St. Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Cuming County, near Pender, Nebraska.
