"Strother Barnes Brown was born October 15, 1814 in Albemarle County, Virginia, near the old Jefferson homestead and died at 7:45 Wednesday evening April 24th at his home in this city. He was upwards of 86 years of age. Mr. Brown had been ailing for two months. About five weeks he grew worse and continued to grow weaker until his death.
He came to Nebraska in 1865, although he had crossed the state on his way to California several years before. Before coming to this city about eight years ago he resided near Nebraska City and later he lived near Talmage.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today and he will be buried at Nebraska City."

Death Of S. B. Brown
"S. B. Brown, father of Mrs. Jesse Jeffries of this city, died last evening at his home in Auburn. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock in Auburn and the remains brought to this city for interment. He was quite well known here."
