Arlene was born October 1, 1924 in Prophetstown the daughter of Roy and Agnes (Springer) Thompson.
She married Russell C. Onken on November 15, 1941 in Morrison. He preceded her in death in 2004.
Arlene was employed at General Electric for 35 years retiring in 1984. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison, the American Legion Auxillary and Whiteside County Genealogy. She was on the Morrison Library Board and was a Cub Scout Leader. She enjoyed reading and studying genealogy.
Survivors include two daughters, Vicki (Bruce) Hunter and Terri (Roger) Doering; one son, Darrell (Pat) Onken; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons in infancy, Michael Onken and Mark Onken; one brother, Harry Thompson; one sister, Stevetta Engelkens; and one grandchild, James Alan Hunter.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be given to Arlene's favorite past times and charities.
