Alberta Elizabeth Lehman Goertz, age 83, of Rockne, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 11, 2013.

She was born on December 26, 1929, in Westphalia, Texas. In 1948, she married Thomas Goertz and moved with him to Rockne, where they shared over 64 years of a happy marriage and family life.

Throughout her lifetime, she enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting, gardening, canning, and serving the community through volunteer work with the Cub Scouts, 4-H Club, St. Anne's Society, Bastrop County Home Demonstration, Ladies of Charity, and Gifts for the Unborn, for whom she sewed hundreds of baby booties. Once her husband retired, she enjoyed traveling with him in the U.S. and abroad, but her favorite thing was spending time with their family. She hosted many family gatherings and lovingly sewed a quilt for each of her grandchildren for graduation.

Alberta was a selfless individual. Family and friends knew her as a gentle, patient, dependable, faith-filled, humble person, devoted to her family and to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Goertz; 6 daughters: Sharon and husband Paul Schnack, Janet and husband James Rathmann, Cheryl Daniel, Aileen and husband Horace Dixon, Lisa and husband Bill Gossett, Denise and husband Scott Culpepper; son Kenneth and wife Beverly Goertz; 21 grandchildren: Robin, Ronnie, Aaron, Judith, Jacob, Tennille, Ryan, Joseph, Christi, Melinda, Nicole, Kelley, Tom, Sarah, Kate, Jessica, Danielle, Ivan, William, Trevor and Claire; 21 great-grandchildren; 6 siblings: Evelyn, Bea, George, Louis, Catherine and Judy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her son Ronald, granddaughter Camille Daniel, son-in-law Mark Daniel, and 3 brothers: Leo, Gilbert and Kenneth.

A rosary service and the funeral service will be both held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockne, Texas.

Momma, you were a fine example of living a simple life in an extraordinary way and your loving spirit will live in our hearts forever.
