Nola Rolston Vassau

FORSYTH, MT. ----- Nola Rolston Vassau taught school in Shelby and the in Forsyth and Rosebud.

She served at the Rosebud County Superintendent of School from 1957 to 1962 and on the Forsyth School Board for three years.

She retired in 1974 but continued teaching adult education.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Home makers Club and was a past 4-H and Cub Scout Leader.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking.

Mrs. Vassau, 73, died in her home Monday of natural causes.

A daughter of Reinhardt and Mary Waddingham Stortz.

She was born and educated in Forsyth, graduating from Forsyth High School in 1932.

She graduated from the University of Montana in 1938 and did graduate work at Montana State College in 1939.

On May 26, 1941, she married Tom Rolston in Forsyth.

She married Howard Vassau Sr. in Sturgis, S.D.

They lived in the Forsyth area and spent the winters in New Mexico.

Survivors include her husband, a son, Alan Rolston and a daughter Barbara Jo Rolston both of Forsyth, a brother Norman Stortz of Tulsa, OK., and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Beals Mortuary.

Cremation will follow.

Interment will be in the Forsyth Cemetery, Forsyth, MT.
