ENFIELD, Conn. -- Roger W. Putnam, 50, of Croydon Road, Newport, N.H., a school bus driver for Richards School in Newport, died Friday in Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, Hanover, N.H. He previously worked for 13 years at Sweetlife Foods, and later as a business agent for Teamsters Local 559 of Newington, Conn. Born in Croydon, N.H., he lived in East Granby, Conn., for 12 years, and moved to Newport in 1984. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Landry-Sic Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Suffield, and the VFW Post in Newport. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge of Newport. He leaves his wife, the former Carolyn Buck; two sons, Brian and Michael, both of East Hartford; two daughters, Pamela Soyka of East Granby and Paula Rowe of Newport; his mother, Mildred (Lower) Turgeon of Lakeland, Fla.; two sisters, Marilyn Nejoika and Katherine Coleson, both of Enfield, and seven grandchildren. The funeral will be May 9 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels on South Road, Enfield, with burial in West Cemetery, Somers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, Hanover, N.H., 03756.
