James O. Baier
Hope-James O. Baier, 85, Route 1, Hope, died Saturday, Oct. 20, at an Abilene hospital.He wa a farmer and stockman and lived all his life in Dickinson County.He was born June 21, 1899, near Elmo, the son of John and Regina Reidy Baier. He attended New Basel schools and was a member of the St. Columba Catholic Church, Elmo, and a 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus, Abilene.He married Leona Riffel on Jan. 18, 1926 at Elmo. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, James Baier, Route 1, Hope and Wayne Baier, Routh 4, Abilene; three daughters, Catherine Baier, Hope, Marilyn Anderes, Route 1, Hope, and Virginia Anderes, Route 1 Hope; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Columba Church and burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Abilene. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Columba memorial fund.Parish rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Martin Funeral Home, Abilene. The Knights of Columbus rosary will follow.
