Allen John Schmitz, 40, Hilbert, died of a heart attack Sunday. He was the operator of Schmitz Bar in Hilbert. A World War II veteran, he was a member of the Kupseh-Brockman American Legion Post No. 127 in Hilbert.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Peter Schmitz, two sons, Peter and Michael of Appleton; a daughter, Mrs. Gerald, LeVelle, Grand Rapids, Mich., two brothers, Ray and Elmer of Hilbert; and two sisters, Mrs. Anita Breit, Kaukauna; and Mrs. Leroy Kleist, Potter.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hilbert. The Rev. Martin Jaekels will officiate. Military rites were conducted at the church cemetery where burial was made.
