PAUL G. RIETFORTS
Paul Gustave Rietforts was killed by the passenger train that arrives from Minneapolis at 12:08 p. m., on Saturday afternoon as he was herding cows near the M. & St. L. Railroad tracks three miles south of Waseca. No one witnessed the accident but he was believed to have suffered an epileptic spell with which he had been troubled a number of times and fell near the track. As the train passed, the step of the coach hit the back of his head. The right arm, which was near the track, was crushed.
Paul Rietforts, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Rietforts, was born on January 12th, 1896, in Hallam, Nebraska. He came to Waseca with his parents at the age of five years, lived on a farm south of town. He was unmarried and had lived with his parents on the farm until the time of his death. Surviving the deceased are his parents, four brothers Henry, Fred., John and Arthur of this city, and five sisters, Mrs. Howard Plummer, Mrs. Roman Kalis, Mrs. Henry Riese and Lydia of this city and Mrs. Earl Wynnemer of Rochester.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the St. John’s Lutheran church, with Rev. Theo. Hennings officiating. Burial was in Woodville cemetery.
Pall bearers were: John and George Henkensiefken, Arthur McDonough, Martin Runge, Chas. Minges and Bernard Kramer.
