Zigmund Schmanske
---Zigmund P. Schmanske, age 78, of 803 Orchard Drive, Stuart Lake, died Wednesday afternoon at Oaklawn Hospital where he had been a patient the past two days. He had been ill for some time.
---Schmanske was born on April 30, 1908 in Davenport, Iowa to John and Monica (Bazner) Schmanske. He came to the Marshall area at the age of 8 and has lived here since. Schmanske was married July 5, 1940 in Davenport, Iowa to Edna K. Weers.
---He was employed at Eaton Corporation in Marshall for 38 years, retiring in 1970. Schmanske was a member of the Eaton Quarter Century Club and St. Mary Catholic Church.
---Surviving are his wife, Edna, two daughter[sic], Judy Campbell of Olivet, and Mary Coppernoll of Spring Arbor; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Jess Charles (Lillian) Nizolek of Marshall, and Mrs. Nellie Hagan of Owosso; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Monica Saunders and two brothers, Stanley and John Schmanske.
---Friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home where a rosary will be held Friday at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. James L. Barrett of St. Mary Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Mary Catholic Church. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
