She married Joe Fayfer on May 14, 1919. They had seven children.

"Mrs. Mary R. Fayfer passed away Monday, June 20, 1988 at Maccabee Gardens, after a lingering illness. Age 93 years. Mary Borgerding was born Sept. 8, 1894 in Lima, OH. She married Joseph Fayfer. He predeceased her in 1951. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Whittin, Saginaw; Mrs. Edward (Betty) Coleman, CA; two sons, Walter; and James Fayfer, both of Saginaw; 15 grandchildren; one sister, Katherine Borgerding, Dayton, OH; one brother, Henry Borgerding, New Weston, OH; one daughter and one son, predeceased her.

Private funeral service will take place 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Msgr. Thomas Horton will officiate, with burial at St. Andrew's Cemetery. There will be no visitation."
