Funeral services for Mrs. William G. Wendt, 64, who died at 9:55 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 1969, in St. Clare Hospital following an apparent heart attack, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, in Zwingli United Church of Christ, where she was a member and a past president of the Aid Society. Rev. J. Allen Mittler is to officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Memorial Lounge at Zwingli Church from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Frederick S. Voegeli is in charge of arrangements.
The former Clara Lydia Wittenwyler was born Nov. 30, 1904, on the Wittenwyler Home-stead farm in Mt. Pleasant Township, a daughter of Matt B. and Mary Becker Wittenwyler. She attended Monticello schools.
On Jan. 1, 1924 she was married to John C. Elmer, who died in 1953. On Nov. 30, 1958 she married William G. Wendt of Brooklyn.
Mrs. Wendt had always lived in Mt. Pleasant and Monticello, moving to the village in 1949. She was a member of the G.U.G. Germania Lodge and the Woman's Relief Corps.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Willis H. Elmer, Monticello; three step-sons, Herbert and Wilferd Wendt, Brooklyn, and Rodney Wendt, Madison; a brother, Jacob M. Wittenwyler, Monticello; five sisters, Mrs. John E. (Julia) Zimmerman, Monroe; Mrs. Melvin (Bernice) Blumer Monticello; Mrs. Alwina Gempeler, also of Monticello; Mrs. Edwin (Palma) Abbott, Monroe, and Mrs. William (Helen) Lohse, Acampo, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Mary Kay and Carol Fay Elmer.
She was preceded in death by a son, Leon, in infancy, and a brother, Harvey Wittenwyler.
