Arlene Ida Thorberg, died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion, Nebraska.

Arlene, daughter of Steve and Kathryn (Kromminga) Dirksen, was born November 23, 1924 at Fostoria, Iowa.

Arlene attended Summit District # 1 through the 8th Grade in Fostoria, Iowa and graduated from a consolidated High School at Everly, Iowa in 1942.

She was baptized and confirmed at the Fostoria (IA.) Methodist Church in 1940 and later confirmed into the Lutheran faith at North Branch Lutheran Church, rural Boone County, Nebraska in 1949.

On January 26, 1949, Arlene was united in marriage to Harold Thorberg at Sioux City, Iowa.

They lived on the Thorberg home place at Petersburg, Nebraska until 1970, when they moved to Albion, Nebraska.

Arlene was a busy housekeeper and homemaker, raising their three children and helping Harold on the farm.

She also volunteered often at the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center. Arlene worked for a couple years at the Boone County Health Center, Albion, Nebraska.

Harold passed away on December 17, 1993. In May of 2011 Arlene moved to the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion, Nebraska.

Arlene was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, WELCA Sewing Group, Church Women United, the Hope Circle at Zion Lutheran and served as secretary for the Community Mission Growth Committee.

Surviving are: children, Donald Thorberg and wife Mary of Albion, Nebraska, Donna Short and husband Gayle of Norfolk, Nebraska and Allen Thorberg and wife Kathy of Petersburg, Nebraska; grandchildren and their spouses: Angela Arnold and husband Ed, Kimberly Keller and husband Kevin, Brad Thorberg, Jennifer Bailey, Kyle Short, Becky Thorberg, Matthew Thorberg, and Breann Thorberg: 4 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Arlene was preceded in death by: parents; husband, Harold Thorberg; brother, Oliver Dirksen and sister & brother-in-law, Evelyn & Cliff Murray.

Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, Nebraska.
