Anna Margaret Hilgefort was the youngest of the 8 children of Johann Heinrich Hilgefort and Maria Katharina Meyer. She was born in McLean Township, Shelby County, Ohio. She married Bernard Bruns on June 27, 1906 in St. Michael's Church in Fort Loramie and they had 7 children. They lived on a farm on Reed Road just east of Yorkshire, Ohio.
