Wilhelm sailed from Germany with his wife Emma (Steindel) and their four children in June, 1886 on the "Eider". They settled in Dunmore and had six more children including a set of twins, before Wilhelm died in 1895 - five months before the birth of their youngest child, a daughter Louise. Wilhelm's wife Emma later remarried and when she died soon thereafter, was buried with her second husband.
