He was a retired farmer and lifelong resident of Mississippi County, born in Bertrand on June 11, 1911, to Estel Harris and Mrs. Florence K. Harris. On Dec. 14, 1936, he married the former Miss Louvie Harris. He was a member of the IOOF Lodge in Charleston.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Billy Joe and Bobby Gene Harris; two daughters, Mrs. Melba Whitney and Miss Sheila Harris; four brothers, John, James, Jewel and Junior Harris; two sisters, Mrs. Nina Heppe and Mrs. Frances Evans; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A son, a brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
