Joseph C. Ballard, 40, of...(Grand Island), died Friday, Nov. 4, at St. Francis Medical Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Tim Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery. Visitation will be ...at Kleine Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Ballard was born on March 1, 1954, at North Island, Calif., to Elwood and Alatoria (Roy) Ballard. His father was in the Navy and the family moved to various cities in California. In 1957, he came with his family to Grand Island when his dad died. He graduated from Senior High in 1972. He furthered his education at the Rocky Mountain School of Art in Denver for two years. He married Pamela Petsch at the Stuhr Museum church on May 5, 1970. He worked for Fila's Seven Seas Lounge and then for the Platt-Duetsche. For the past 17 years he worked at Rapid Carbonic in Grand Island. He helped friends and family, was an avid reader, refinished furniture and was an artist. He served as an altar boy and was active in the Episcopal Church. He was a member of the Platt-Duetsche and the Sons of the Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Pam of Grand Island; two daughters, Sarah Jo and Samantha Kay, both at home; his mother, Alatoria of Grand Island; a sister, Kathleen Palmateer of Littleton, Colo. He was preceded in death by his father, a sister, Peggy and a brother, William.
