Stage director/actor/writer on radio, television and over 50 German and US films of the 1920s-40s. He appeared in Berlin theaters with Marlene Dietrich and Elisabeth Bergner. One of his earliest stage appearances was in "Peer Gynt" and later in "Die Jungfrau von Orleans." In addition, he sang tenor roles in musical comedies and in 1930 he was brought to America by Warner Bros and played in German versions of "The Sacred Flame" and "Big House." He also appeared on American stages in Brooklyn and the famed Pasadena Playhouse in California.Actor. He is particularly remembered in Casablanca. He died in New York.
