Harry Bauer, 82, R.R.8, Montgomery Road, died Wednesday at 1:50 p.m. in the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, having been seriously ill two months.

Mr. Bauer was born July 7, 1896, in Ripley County, the son of John and Amelia Hibbler Bauer.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Napoleon. He had lived in his present home over 37 years.

Mr. Bauer was a retired employee of the Decatur County Memorial Hospital, where he worked 21 years. Prior to moving to Decatur County he was a resident of Ripley County and the Napoleon area where he was a farmer.
He was married Oct. 9, 1921, in Napoleon, to Carrie V. Drescher, and she preceded him in death Oct. 24, 1966. He is survived by a son, Paul A. Bauer, Greensburg; a daughter-in-law, Jane Bauer; a grandson, David A. Bauer, who is a senior at Purdue University; and one brother, Oliver Bauer, Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Albert Bauer.

The services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Napoleon with the pastor, Dr. Elwood Anderson, officiating, and with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral home after 3 p.m. Friday and after 12 Saturday at the church. The family requests that memorials be in the form of contributions to the St. John's Lutheran Church.
