He was born April 8, 1943 in La Junta, Colorado, and was later married to Frances Aguilar Fernandez on November 5, 2001.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Brawley. A funeral service will be Monday, May 2 at 10 a.m. at El Redentor Church in Brawley with Pastor Mike Necluk officitaing.
Julio is survived by his wife, Frances Aguilar Fernandez; children, Dora Garcia of Glendora, CA, Frances Chacon of Brawley, Tanya Carrillo of Brawley, Julie Fernandez of Brawley, Julio Fernandez Jr. of Brawley, Sonya Cornejo of Elk Grove, CA, Jimmy Garcia of San Diego, CA, Francine Loya of San Diego,CA, Vicky Nava of Brawley, and Sergio Loya of Brawley; siblings, Ruben Fernandez of Ontario, CA, Robert Fernandez of El Paso, TX, Steve Fernandez of Brawley, Evelyn Zamudio of Brawley, Mark Fernandez of El Paso, TX, and George Olivo of Brawley; 23 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
