This cemetery was established about 1770 by St. Peter's Lutheran Congregation.
In 1811, St. Peter's Lutheran Congregation & St. Peter's Reformed Congregation agreed to share the adjoining cemetery, creating St. Peter's Union Cemetery.
In 1889, St. Peter's Lutheran Congregation sold their interest in the Union Cemetery to St. Peter's Reformed Congregation since the Lutheran Congregation had established a new St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery across the street.
In 1957, due to a merger of churches, St. Peter's Reformed changed its name to St. Peter's Pikeland United Church of Christ.
Thus, when George Emrey was buried, the cemetery was owned by St. Peter's Lutheran Church; but today, his burial location is within St. Peter's Pikeland UCC Cemetery.
