In Memory of Verna Maria Hinsberger

January 25, 1931 to June 24, 2013

Verna Marie Hinsberger, age 82, of Dana Point, California, passed June 24th, 2013 in Mission Viejo, California, from Leukemia.

Verna was born January 25th, 1931, in Los Angeles, California, the last of five children born to Slovakian immigrants Andrew S. Oswald and Veronica T. Oberle.

She married Donald William Hinsberger on the 23rd of April 1955 in Los Angeles.

She graduated Fremont High School in Los Angeles, class of 1949.

After High School Verna went to work for Occidental Life insurance in Los Angeles and worked there until she began her family. Many years later she rejoined the work force, working with children as a teacher's aide in special education.

Verna had many artistic talents and her hobbies in that area included painting, photography and stained glass work. She loved flowers and was an avid gardener.

An athletic fan and participant she was a champion bowler, and played softball in her youth for the Occidental company team. She loved both snow and water skiing. She was a fan of the Lakers, the Dodgers, and all sports USC.

She attended mass regularly, and devoted herself to her family.

She was known for her kindness and selflessness, as welll as her sharp wit and love of puns.

She is survived by her husband Donald William Hinsberger, son Donald Alan Hisberger, husband of Cynthia Guthrie, son James Andrew Hinsberger, daughter Linda Marie, wife of Paul Brindley, daughter Laura Ann, wife of David McWater, two grand children, Stepahnie Lynn Garrido (Hinsberger), wife of Anthony Garrido and Melanie Marie O'Leary (Hinsberger), wife of Kevin O'Leary, and her brother William Oswald.

Verna was predeceased by her daughters Diane Eileen Hinsberger and Mary Lisa Hinsberger, sisters Marie Veronica Frezell and Catherine M. "Katie" Kelly, and brother Andrew Oswald.

Rosary services will be held at Miller-Mies Mortuary at 7pm on Friday 6/28 and the funeral mass will be held at St. Raymond's Church at 10am on Saturday 6/29.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Cystic Fibrosis Memorial Fund in Verna's name found at http://www.cff.org/Tribute/vhinsberger.
