Born on the family farm in Grove (Township) of Stearns County -- near the village of Meire Grove, MN; Mary Catherine was the sixth of eight children {four daughters & four sons} born to Heinrich H. & Elizabeth (Suding) Luetmer.

Of the six children who lived to adulthood, one married & the other five professed vows to serve the Lord. Two became priests & three became Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict.

Sister Nora entered the convent on 10 September 1910. Shetook her initial vows on 11 July 1917 & her perpetual vows 11 July 1920.

From a 2015 note [w/ minor edits] from the Archivist at Saint Benedict's Monastery: "Sister Nora, the aunt of the more recent Sister Nora, was a sister of Sisters Mary Claire & Edith (St. Paul's Priory in Saint Paul, MN). Sister Nora had done art needlework for 14 years, had supervised the student dining room for three years, and had worked one year in the office at Saint Cloud (MN) Hospital before moving on to the office at Saint Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND for 11 years; she later died there."
