Mark Steven Ritzenhein
Okemos, Michigan

Born October 18, 1958, Saginaw, Michigan, died July 6, 2013, Okemos, Michigan from a brain tumor. Funeral celebration and ecumenical service will take place at a later date, burial service was held at Glendale Cemetery, Mt. Hope Road, Okemos.

Mark is survived by his fully-beloved, thirty-one year lifetime partner and lawful spouse, Stephen P. Wilensky, M.D. Always attempting swiftness, he beat his all-older siblings – Gary, Sharon, Suzanne, and persistent mother, Christine, to the grave. He leaves behind, regretfully, his closest and ever-dearest sibling, Kathleen, and her fiancé, John Hartman. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Ritzenhein in 1985.

Mark wrote: "Love makes family, not bloodlines or legal decrees. Jane Wilensky, and her and Stephen's two sons, Jeffrey and Adam, their wives, Beth and Erin, and our grandchildren Josephine, Leo, Thomas and Estelle, are my heart lineage. My sister-in-law, Linda Carter, her children, and brother-in-law Dan Dowis, remain part of my heart family as well, along with Kathleen's children Christopher and Kimberly Dowis, and Lisa Nikolai and her family.

Mark S. Ritzenhein died in physical mortality, his mortal body emptied of any and all attachments to Fear, Greed, and Delusional Ambitions, and in full alignment with our common Human Nature and Spirit -- as we all must die, and should by obligation to the Truth of Life and Death, also LIVE -- in complete surrender to the evanescent nature of our moment-by-moment existence.

He died at Peace, his Spirit one last confirmed Flash of Light. His physical body rejoins the scant Humus of the Earth, of which we all are truly the double manifestation, both standing upon our decaying and renewing Collective Self and trampled and transformed for Life-Renewal in all its glorious, wondrous, and precious Forms.

His eternal Life-Force Spirit, of which he is only the self-aware witness, returns to the Glorious White Light of all Beingness, where it seeks to go on its soaring and arching trajectory; his self-aware consciousness is only the witness. He hopes his physical body to be re-made into a twisted, grasping branch of some Holy White Oak tree, reaching towards the Beauty of the Earth, Alive, a Roost for the Owl and the Dove, the Squirrel with its ever-alert and startled acorned mouth, and the reassuring Breezes of a still Living and Dynamic Planet of all Life. For our precious, trampled, beaten, Murdered-by-the-Greed-and-Fear-of-the-Sadly-Errant Human Mind is the only Treasure-Home we have-the very Earth. Save the Planet, Save the Earth, Save the Earth."

Thanks to Dr. Raymond Hansen, Dr. Charles Bill, Dr. James Herman, Dr. Muhammad Hamdan, the Sixth Floor Staff and Rehab personnel at Sparrow Hospital, and the staff at Burcham Hills Rehab Unit for their compassionate and outstanding care.

The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Lansing. Online condolences may be made at: www.greastlansing.com
