ST. THOMAS (Special) – Peter Simon Groner, 78, of St. Thomas died Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital after a lingering illness. He was born May 24, 1884, at St. Thomas, a son of Benedict and Anna Groner. On Jan. 11, 1910 he married the former Miss Cunigunda Bock.

Mr. Groner was a life-long resident and farmer in the St. Thomas community. He was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church and the Men's Sodality of the parish.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Norbert Groner of St. Louis; three daughters, Mrs. Roman Schulte, Mary's Home; Mrs. Bill Schepker, St. Louis; and Mrs. Lawrence Miller, Lohman; a brother, Leo Groner, Kansas City; and 15 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in St. Thomas with the Rev. Leo Oligschlaeger officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at the family home.
