In 1863, Mr. Stiehl left Germany and came to America settling in Clayton County, Iowa, near Farmersburg, where he lived until 1878. He then moved to Hancock County and farmed in Liberty Twp. until 1902. At that time he retired and lived in Garner for the remaining years of his life.
His brother, John (Find A Grave Memorial# 129842457) remained in Clayton County with his wife and son.
