SANTA FE - Mrs. Pauline Cerny passed from this life Monday evening in Texas City.

Born September 24,1919, in Haughton, Louisiana, Mrs. Cerny had been a resident of Santa Fe for 47 years, previously of Houston. She had been employed in the retail sales industry for 30 years, having worked at the
Ellington Air Force Base Exchange for 20 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, VFW Post 5400 Ladies Auxiliary and Senior Friends. She enjoyed playing darts cards, painting shirts and writing poems.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, James G. and Patricia Cerny of Tampa, Florida and Charles B. Cerny of Biloxi, Mississippi; daughters and son-in-law, Norma Elaine Vanderbilt of Santa Fe and Janet Denise and Dana Gregory, of La Marque; brother-in-law, Ralph Thompson, of Santa Fe; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Father Peter Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Vigil services will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Sister Mary Anne HoUmann officiating.

Casketbearers will be James C. Cerny, Thomas Cerny, Dana Gregory, Chris Hubbard, Jeremy Hubbard and Robert N. Thompson. Honorary bearer will be Todd Belz.

Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, 925-3501.

Those who wish may make memorials in the form of donations to the VFW Post 5400 Ladies Auxiliary.
