Dorothy Franceil Peters, 96, of Greenfield, Iowa formerly of Menlo passed away peacefully June 25, 2009 at the Greenfield Manor.

Franceil as she was known by family and friends was born August 6, 1912 to Ellis Ray and Flossie Miller Britt. She grew up on a farm in Beaver Township, rural Guthrie County, Iowa and graduated from Menlo High School in 1929. Franceil was united in marriage to Clarence Homer Peters on July 5, 1930 and together they became the proud parents of three children, Jo Ann, Larry, and Randy. After their marriage they moved to a farm south of Menlo where they resided until moving to Eugene, Oregon. They lived and worked in the Eugene area for three years before moving back to rural Menlo to farm until Clarence's illness. Besides helping her husband on the farm, Franceil worked as a cook at the Menlo School before being employed as a cashier at the Menlo State Bank where she worked until her retirement. Franceil was a devoted member of the Menlo Methodist Church for 60 years. She taught Sunday school, Bible School, helped with meals, and acted as the church's wedding coordinator for a number of years. Besides quality time spent with her family and friends, she enjoyed fishing, sewing, and cooking. She also enjoyed crocheting and throughout the years had made several afghan's for her family and friends.

Franceil is preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence in1977, son Larry Peters in December of 2004, and one grandson Craig Hall.

She is survived by two children, Jo Ann Hall and her husband George of Greenfield, Iowa and Randy Peters and his wife Susan of East Peoria, Illinois; grandchildren, Kevin Hall and wife Carol of Greenfield, Iowa, Tim Hall of Clarksville, Iowa, Jodie Seaton and husband Greg of Kearney, Missouri, Dana Hall and companion David Ferguson of Austin, Texas, Kelly Scholl and husband Chris of Manly, Iowa, Darcy Soto and husband Bert of Lawrence, Kansas, Andrea Kopsa and husband L.J. of Beaman, Iowa and Britt Peters and wife Samantha of Ottawa, Kansas; great grandchildren, Ryan and Stacie Hall, Ian Hall, Eli Hall, Matthew Hall, Elliott Hall, Derrick and Allison Seaton, Kayln Gullic, Hunter and Levi Scholl, Max, Jack, and Grace Soto, Jordan, James and Jessie Peters and Lydia, Harris and Isaac Kopsa; great-great granddaughter, Abbigail Ryan Hall, great-great grandson Trenton Gullic and a host of friends all of whom will miss her greatly.
