Son of Luther & Anna Molgaard Bilbrey

Roy V. Bilbrey, 79, son Luther & Anna (Molgaard) Bilbrey, was born January 11, 1934 in Lyons, Nebraska.

He passed away Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Community Care Center, Stuart, Iowa.

Roy graduated from Panora High School in 1953. He worked at a Creamery in Des Moines and also at the Egg Plant in Guthrie Center. He enlisted into the United States Air Force in June of 1954. On December 26, 1954, he married Lila Wine at the Christian Church in Panora.

Following his discharge in 1957, they lived on a farm north of Panora for about 3 years. They then moved into Panora where he was a delivery man for Skelgas. He then worked for Oscar Mayer in refrigeration maintanance for 17 years. He then was a self employed plumbing, heating, and a/c serviceman, retiring in 1997.

Roy was past president of the Panora Lion's Club, past member of the Panora Volunteer Fire Dept, and was on the committee for the Ambulance Purchase, past Councilman andMayor for the City of Panora, and past member of the Jaycees. He was a member of the Woodcarvers Association and did tree carvings around Panora. He taught Adult Ed. Stained Glass, was a member of the Gold Wings Motorcycle Group, the Dart League, and the local Poker Club.

Roy is survived by his wife Lila of Panora; daughters, Twila (Vern) Wichtendahl of Whittemore, IA and Jean (David) Peninger of Cheraw, SC; son, Charlie (Beth) Bilbrey of Panora. Nine grandchildren, Amber (Buddy) Peninger-Steen, Dave (Jessica) Peninger, Joey (Ashley) Peninger, Angela (Josh Rusch) Wichtendahl, Emily (Nick) Crimmins, Kelley Bilbrey, Suzanne Wichtendahl, Lucas Bilbrey, and Jonathan Wichtendahl. Nine great-grandchildren, Kaley Peninger, Alexandra Steen, Kaden Crimmins, Brayden Steen, Bradley Gaillard, Kellen Peninger, Gunnar Peninger, Leo Rusch-Wichtendahl, and Haley Wichtendahl-Gaillard. Sisters, Gloria Divelbiss of Oskaloosa and Dorothy Pullen of Texas; one niece, four nephews, and Roy's faithful buddy Homer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gordon Bilbrey, sister Loraine Stephens, and grandson Michael Wichtendahl in 2011.
