Velma Fay Kirschner, 100, quietly passed away Thursday morning in her home in Florence, TX. Velma was a 50+ year resident of Austin, TX. She retired from Texas Automotive Insurance Services in 1979 after 34 years of service.
Velma Fay (West) Kirschner was born near Leander, TX. on June 12, 1914, to Steve William West and Lonnie Mae (Waley) West. She was a 1932 graduate of Liberty Hill where she grew up. Shortly after graduating, she moved to Austin to begin her career with Texas Automotive Insurance Services. She was also an active member of Shettles Memorial United Methodist Church in Hyde Park.
Velma is survived by her Sister-In-Law, Charlotte West, her Nephews, Steve W. West, David Dunn, Darrel Dunn, and Doug Dunn. Her Great-Nieces and Nephews include Becky West, Kyle Dunn, Jacob Dunn, and Stephanie Dunn.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with Funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Weed-Corley-Fish North Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX. 78705 . Following the service, there will be a short graveside tribute at Capital Memorial Park in Pflugerville, TX.
