MONTGOMERY — Mrs. Hortense D. Hopkins passed from this life Monday, March 7, 2005, at her home.

Born January 11, 1913, in Lafayette, Louisiana, Mrs. Hopkins lived with her daughter, Delta Duhon, for over 20 years in Santa Fe and Galveston. After Delta’s death, Mrs. Hopkins went to live with her grandson and his wife, Michael and Linda Duhon, in Montgomery until her passing. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church while living in Santa Fe and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Conroe while living with her grandson and his wife. She enjoyed baking and sewing but she was devoted and loved her children and grandchildren the most.

She was preceded in death by her husband Odis Hopkins; daughter, Delta Duhon; sons, Oran Hopkins, Sr. and Allen Hopkins, and grandson, Rodney Duhon, Sr.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Hopkins of Galveston, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2005, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with the Rev. John Kappe officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home.

A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Sister Mary Anne Hollmann officiating.

Casketbearers will be Mike Duhon, Rodney Duhon, Jr., Buddy Hopkins, Chris Hopkins, Chip Kleinecke, and Walter Tacquard.
