Joyce L. Henke, age 83 of Salem, formerly of Watseka, passed away on July 6, 2020 at Doctors Nursing and Rehab in Salem.

Joyce was born on September 2, 1936 in Watseka, the daughter of Leonard and Lena (Potts) Leiding. She married Silas Light and they later divorced. She then married Roland Henke on February 3, 1984 in Watseka and he preceded her in death on July 23, 2008.

She is survived by two sons, Leonard Light of Surprise, Arizona and Steven Light and wife Tammy of Salem; five grandchildren, Zekiel Light and wife Amanda, Lucas Light, Elizabeth O’Hara, Emily Bailey and Sydney Bailey; two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Decker; one sister, Myrna Baier and husband Dick of Cissna Park.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Pat Barth.

Joyce was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Salem. She served as City Treasurer from 1973-1982 and bookkeeper from 1982-1995 for the City of Watseka, was a part member of the Junior Women’s Club and Beta Sigma Phi. She enjoyed playing bridge and loved spending time with her family.

Funeral Services for Joyce L. Henke will be held at Noon on Friday, July 10, 2020 at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem. Visitation will be from 11:00 until the time of the service. Burial will be at a later date in Iroquois Memorial Park in Watseka. Memorials can be made to the Grace United Methodist Church in Salem and can be received at the Crouse Funeral Home.
