The following from Find A Grave contributor Desertthorn:
Harvey C Christie, age 27 enlisted on August 12, 1862 at Mayfield, NY to serve a three year tour. Mustered in as private to Co E 115th REG on August 26th 1862.
Captured in action September 15, 1862 along with 11000 of his comrades at Harpers Ferry VA. Due to the numbers the rebel generals paroled them on the following day and let them leave in peace.
Promoted to Sergeant of February 1, 1863
Promoted to Commissary Sergeant March 1, 1863.
Died August 2, 1863 at US Hospital in South Carolina
