Official intimation has been received that Coy., Sergt. Major H. Abbott, of the Lincolnshire Regiment, husband of Mrs Abbott, 83, Westgate, Lincoln, was killed in action on the 28th August 1917.He was the sergeant instructor of the 4th Battalion, with whom he had been four years up to January last. He then went to the 3rd Battalion at Grimsby, and left for France on May 14th Last. He had served 17 years in the army, and had seen service in South Africa and Gibraltar
