Florence was adopted off an orphan Train that came from New York City to northern Minnesota. Here is her obituary:
"Florence Brandl, age 95, of Blackduck, died March 20, 1989 at the Northern Pines Good Samaritan Center. Services were Saturday, March 25, 1989 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Blackduck. Internment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Blackduck.
She was born February 16, 1894 at Jamestown, NY. She married Hubert Brandl April 16, 1918 in New Munich, MN.
They moved to Blackduck in 1935 where they farmed.
She is survived by two sons, Gerald,, Rochester, Elroy, Turtle River; five daughters,Delores (Mrs Cyril) Pink, Shooks, Lyola Hursch, Mt Dora, Florida, Charlene Hayford, Michigan, Donna (Mrs Reuben) Knutson, St. Paul, Lillian Keil, Biwabik 39 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren. Her husband proceeded her in death in November, 1979, also one daughter, LaVerne Anderson.
