Ellen Louise Carrier Stare was born December 4, 1912 in Johnston, Ohio to the late Elmer & Dora Thorn Carrier. She died July 30, 2007 in Youngstown, Ohio. Her funeral was August 2, 2007.
My grandma led a full and busy life. Besides being a homemaker, she was a member of the Salvation Army where she was the Home League Chaplain, the Young Peoples Sergeant Major and Sunday school teacher. She also volunteered for the League of Mercy, the soup kitchen and played in the Salvation Army band. She attended New Covenant Worship Center and was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star Miriam Chapter No. 278.
She and my grandpa Stephen R Stare Jr were married August 16, 1932. He died Oct 22, 1991.
She was the mother of 2 sons & 3 daughters, 17 grandchildren, 23 grandchildren, & 2 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves 1 sister.
Preceding her in death was her stepfather William Gross, 4 sisters Gladys Smith, Agnes Mikula & Florence Horton, twin sister Lillian, and brother George Gross.
My fondest memories of Grandma Stare were the frequent dinners at their house. My grandma made the best mashed potatoes & and awesome fruit salad! My aunt, my sister and I also had the best dressed Barbie dolls. Grandma is greatly missed. (written by her granddaughter Debbie)
