Lucy Mae Badeker, 82, Midland, died oct. 8, 2004 in Klamath Falls of natural causes.

She was born in Minneapolis to Austin and Mable E. (Tanner) Anderson.

She moved with her family to Neosho, Mo., where she attended elementary school and graduated from Neosho High School in 1937.

She and her mother worked at the military base PX. She met Heinz Martin Badeker there and they were married in 1944.

They moved to Folsom to be near family members.

Mrs. Badeker enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her family.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1983. She worked at the Folsom Convalescent Home until retirement in 1989.

Hugh Kiser, known by the family as "papa Hugh", was her husband's best friend and had known the Badeker family for years. When she retired, she and Kiser moved to Oregon, making their home in Midland.

They spent their winters in Yuma, Ariz., and enjoyed traveling in their motor home across the United States.

When living in Folsom, Mrs. Badeker made quilts and was an active member of the Folsom Sewing Club which made patch quilts and gave them to families in need, fire victims, and residents of the convalescent home.

She collected tea cups and music boxes. She enjoyed reading, especially romance novels, and doing crossword puzzles, crocheting and needlepoint.

Survivors includer her special companion, Hugh Kiser; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Chester Bartley; twin sons and daughters-in-law Jack Herman and Jill Badeker and James Martin and Lari Badeker; extended family sons and spouses, Mike Kiser, Rick and Margie Kiser and Allan and Ronny Kiser; seven grandchildren, eight exteded grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and brother Ray Anderson.
