"Shorty" Albert Emil Helmert, JR. 70, of Alix, Arkansas, died, Saturday, August 10, 2013 in Alix.
He was born June 26, 1943 to Gus and Emma Stutchman Helmert.

He was a retired Arkansas Highway Department Surveyor.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Houston Cemetery in Alix, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Wetherington Helmert of Alix; three daughters, Brenda Hanson of Coal Hill, Arkansas, Ora Moore of Gentry, Arkansas and Kim Blackburn of Alix; two sons, John Blackburn of Clarksville and Jeff Blackburn of Alix; one brother, John Helmert of Clarksville; nephews, Aldon Helmert of Biloxi, Mississippi and John Helmert of Abbeyville, Mississippi; numerous grand and great grandchildren.

The family will visit with friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, August 12, 2013 at Shaffer Funeral Home 2315 W. Commercial in Ozark.

Pallbearers will be Ray Hanson, Chaz Engleman, Klynn Odle, Eric Kessler, Andrew and Randall Estep.
