Virginia was born February 20th, 1923 in Youngstown, Ohio to Amedeo and Querina Mainero. She was married to the love of her life, John P Cuchessi for 58 years. Virginia and John raised their family, daughter Kathy, and sons John and Tony in the same house on the San Clemente golf course. It was there that Virginia loved to entertain and was known to all her family and friends for her amazing Italian cooking. It didn't matter if you were invited or just happen to show up at the front door, you were always welcomed into her home with her warm and loving smile and good food. Virginia also enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time visiting family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John P Cuchessi; her loving son, John A Cuchessi; sister, Lena Gregori; and brothers, Mario Mainero from San Clemente and Joe Mainero from Westminister, CA.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Kathy Franklin and husband Jim of Ojai; son, Tony Cuchessi and wife Julie of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; daughter-in-law, Sue Cuchessi of San Clemente; and sisters-in-law, Eleanor Loprete of Middlesex, New Jersey and Norma Mainero of Gilbert, Arizona. She also had five grandchildren, Tiffany Franklin, Jeremy Franklin, Nick Cuchessi, Amanda Cuchessi and Andrew Cuchessi; three great-grandchildren Dylan, Cali and Maddie; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Prayer Vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 30 at Lesneski Chapel, 640 S. El Camino Real, San Clemente, and a memorial Mass will be on Friday, May 31 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 105 N. La Esperanza, San Clemente.
