Martha Margaret Talken, 87, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, July 19, 2009, at Jefferson City Manor Care. She was born on June 12, 1922, in Mary's Home, the daughter of Herman Anton and Theresia Margaret Mormann Lepper. She was united in marriage on June 12, 1943, in Mary's Home, to William Herman "Bill" Talken, who preceded her in death on May 8, 1992. A homemaker all her life, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Ann's Sodality, St. Ann's Quilting Circle, Legion of Mary, and Jolly Eight Card Club. Martha enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: nine children and their spouses, Betty Schulte, Mary's Home, Dorothy and Robert Werdehausen, Wardsville, David and Sharon Talken, Jefferson City, Theresa and Ambrose Massman, Lee's Summit, Alice and Darrell Hutschreider, Margaret and Dennis Hagenhoff, Holts Summit, Andrew and Sandy Talken, Jefferson City, Paul and Jill Talken, Wardsville, Barbara and Bryan Touchette, Wardsville; 25 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two brothers and four sisters-in-law, Andrew and Harriet Lepper, Jefferson City, Joseph and Lauretta Lepper, Henley, Irene Lepper, Mary's Home, and Shirley Lepper, Jefferson City. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Margaret Holtmeyer; four brothers, Norbert Lepper, Leonard Lepper, Edward Lepper, Herbert Lepper; five infant siblings; a grandson, Jonathon Hagenhoff; a great-grandson, John Michael Beck; and a son-in-law, Justin Schulte. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, July 24, 2009, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. David Vieth officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Cemetery, Mary's Home. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 2413 Hyde Park Road, Jefferson City, MO 65109; American Diabetes Association, 1944-A East Sunshine, Springfield, MO 65804; Our Lady of the Snows Cemetery Association, Mary's Home; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
