Michael Craig Mitschke was born on September 6, 1979 in Giddings, Texas to Calvin & Ina (Gooding) Mitschke. He was baptized on September 30, 1979 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin by Rev. Paul Hartfield. He attended St. Paul Lutheran School in Serbin and was confirmed on April 4, 1993 at St. Paul Lutheran Church by Rev. Paul Hartfield. His confirmation verse was Revelations 2:10 “ Be thou faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life”. He remained a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Mikie graduated from Giddings High School in 1997 and was employed by Leeco Industrial Plastics in Northrup and managed his family’s ranch in Buffalo, Texas. He loved being outdoors, taking care of wildlife, fishing and ranching. He also enjoyed music, watching documentaries and riding his motorcycle.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herman & Ruby Gooding Sr. and Isidor & Elsie Mitschke; his uncle, Jerry Gooding and his cousin, Dena Kuhlmann.

He is survived by his parents, Calvin & Ina Mitschke of Northrup; his sister and brotherin law, Sharon & Shane Hoffman of Northrup; his aunts and uncles, Alice & Glenn Luedke of Northrup, Paul & Evelyn Mitschke of Giddings and Herman Gooding Jr. of Northrup as, well as numerous cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Michael “Mikie” Mitschke, 33, of Northrup, were at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas with Rev. John Schmidt officiating. Burial followed in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Michael Schmidt, Shannon Miertschin, Gene Noack, Jeff Robertson, Mark Mitschke and Greg Horvath.

Mikie passed away unexpectedly the afternoon of Friday, August 16, 2013 near Giddings as result of an automobile accident.

Memorials may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Early Childhood Center, the St. Paul Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund, the St. Paul Lutheran Church Restoration Fund or the charity of one’s choice.
