Rites Held Saturday for Barbara Zimmerer

Mrs. Barbara K. Zimmerer, 80, died at the Osmond hospital Thursday, Jan. 30. She had been living at the Rest home in Osmond and was ill about two months preceding her death.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning at St. Ludger Catholic Church with the Rev. James Fitzgerald, pastor, officiating. Burial was in St. Ludger Cemetery.

Barbara K. Burkhardt, daughter of John and Margareta Burkhardt, was born March 19, 1886 at Verdigre. She was married to Adolph Zimmerer April 14, 1913 at St. Wenceslaus Cahtolic Church in Verdigre. Four children were born to them.

When first married they lived on a farm near Battle Creek. They moved to Knox County in 1917 and farmed until 1949, when they retired and moved into Creighton. Mrs. Zimmerer had lived at the St. Joseph Rest Home in Osmond since 1962.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Philip (Margaret) Rogers of Wausa, Mrs. Paul (Irene) Hobbs of Franklin, Ind. and Mrs. Charles (Dorothy) Arduser of Madelia, Minn.; one son, Edwin of Creighton; 17 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; a brother, John Burkhardt of Verdigre and a sister, Mrs. Anna Vogt of Osmond.

Her husband died April 6, 1961. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers.
