Albert F. "Ab" Escherich, 85, of Stoystown RD 3, (Lambertsville) died Sept. 22, 1996, at home. Born Nov. 29, 1910, in Johnstown. Son of Daniel and Orpha (Hoffman) Escherich. Preceded in death by parents and sister, Helen Wheeler. Survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Thelma Kimmel, and these children: David, Stoystown RD 3; Mrs. Terry (Carol) Fyock, Stoystown RD 2, and Mrs. Robert (Judy) Shumaker, Berlin RD 4; seven grandchildren, five great-grandsons. Brother of Evelyn Shreffler, Stoystown RD 3; Martha Wentz and Faye Matse, both of Stoystown, and William Escherich, Stoystown RD 1. He was a former coal miner. Retired from Bethlehem Steel, Gaurier Division, Johnstown. Member of UMWA, Mountain Field and Stream Club of Roxbury, and Stoyestown Area Historical Society. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with Rev. Larry Black officiating. Interment, Odd Fellows Cemetery, Stoystown. Memorial contributions may be given to Stoyestown Historical Society, P.O. Box 11, Stoystown, Pa. 15563.
