Frieda Goodschmidt, 91, of Scottsbluff, passed away August 26, 2013 at Heritage Estates in Gering. Her funeral service will be held August 28, 2013 at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
Frieda was born March 2nd, 1922 at Minatare to Conrad and Katherine(Brehm)Lofing. She attended rural schools. She married Harold Goodschmidt on February 10th, 1943 at Scottsbluff. They lived and farmed in the valley until 1962 when they moved to Huntley, WY. They returned to the valley in 1970. She lived in Scottsbluff for the next 36 years. She was employed as a seamstress for Ideal Linen until retirement at the age of 72. Frieda was one of the strongest women her children knew. Her family always came first. They all have her strong work ethic and love of family. She always raised a large garden and had pens of poultry which were a source of food year around. We loved her cooking especially fried chicken and chocolate cake. Frieda's grandchildren were especially fond of her cowboy cookies, goulash and zucchini bread. She always had M & M's in her purse for them. Frieda supported her children's activities and especially their education. She always worked alongside them teaching them life lessons as they worked and talked. After her retirement she enjoyed going on bus tours with a group of friends. She and her sisters Helen and Leah had a special bond. They enjoyed eating out, shopping and afternoon visits. She is survived by her children: Judy Crane, Diane (George) Leis, Ron (Patty) Goodschmidt, and Richard Goodschmidt; grandkids Troy (Liz) Goodschmidt, Mark Goodschmidt, Tim Goodschmidt, Jeff (Shannon) Crane, Suzanne Crane, Tricia (Dean) Hodge, Andrea (Phillip) Arellano, Ben Leis and 14 Great grandchildren; siblings Harvey (Della) Lofing, Leah Dolberg, Wilma (Keith) Pister, Joanne(Don) Ramig; sisters in law Betty Lofing, Joy Lofing and Edna Lofing. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold (1984), son Gerald (Jerry), parents Conrad and Katherine Lofing, son in law Hank Crane, brothers William, Harry, Clarence, Floyd, and Robert Lofing, sisters Katherine Schlager and Helen Margheim.
